Turn her into Social Services. Offer to take custody of the baby.

I would think that like most hospitals if they suspect drug use they would test the baby and they would report it to social services themselves. But if you feel that they either didn’t test the baby or didn’t find anything in it’s system then you could always report your suspicions yourself. Child services always takes reports like that seriously and you would be doing the baby a tremendous favor if your suspicions are correct. Don’t wait if you think that you could help now. You wouldn’t want the thought that you could have done something but didn’t to haunt you.

Definitely report it! It’s not like your one phone call is going to get the baby taken away, so don’t feel guilty. But it will get the baby in the system (if it isn’t already) which is good and you will feel better. I hear that when you call, you shouldn’t tell them you are a family member b/c they don’t take it as seriously. I don’t know if it is true, just passing it along. I also have been told that you just have to keep calling social services to get anywhere….
