My multi-function HP Device is not printing over the USB port. Whats wrong?
Several users have reported USB compatibility issues with certain HP multi-function devices. While the Gutenprint driver generates the correct device code to produce printing, the USB connection (the Mac OS X CUPS usb “backend”) may not be capable of communicating properly with the device. If your device fails to print and you are reasonably sure that you set it up correctly then you may be experiencing this problem. As a workaround you may be able to print to your device by using an alternate connection interface (but this method is not well tested). For devices with a parallel port you can try a USB-to-parallel cable, or a parallel-port print server.
