Most of the time, the reason for slow copying speed is because of the DMA setting. However, the “DMA if available” selection means little if the transfer mode is stuck in PIO mode, check what it has beside “Current transfer mode” and you will likely find it is set to “PIO” or “Multiword”. If/when it is functioning correctly it will have “Ultra DMA Mode 2” or “Ultra DMA Mode 5” in the current transfer mode box.
