See if there are any veterinary schools in your area – maybe the cutting edge research and treatment they have available to them could make the difference in Rudy’s treatment. A lot of people here will tell you that money should NOT be a concern when you are talking about the life of your pet. That is unrealistic balderdash! Money is a major factor to be considered in everything we do, pet-related or not. Hopefully, you had the foresight when you took on the responsibility of pet ownership to put money away on a regular basis for emergencies, or to get pet insurance for Rudy; but even if you did, there comes a time when you reach the end of your financial resources and you need to consider if you can afford to conti

That is a terrible decision tha tno one should have to make. But from the way it sounds he is an older parrot, and he sounds like he is pretty sick. You may want to realize that the unselfish thing to do would to put him down, since he isn’t getting better and he is at least 30 years old. You aren’t the only one hurting right now. He cannot play and he is probably weak, listless. If it was me I would put him down, there is a point where neither bird nor owner can take much more and it sounds like you are at that point. The vet is probably interested in the money, supporting an animal for almost a month with no improvement and all that equipment and meds….Your birds doesn’t that. You have to think of his quality of life. Right now he can’t play with you like he used to, he can’t fly around, he can’t hang upside down. In my opinion even though he is technically alive, he isn’t living. He is just existing….the best thing to do would be to put him down and end the pain that he is feeli
