My Maltese is 9 months old and I am starting to have a very hard time keeping the coat tangle free. Can I cut his coat or does it have to stay long?

This is totally up to your preferences. If you want to keep your dog in a “puppy cut” or a poodle disguise”…..go for it! I personally feel, if the dog is not being shown in the show ring, that keeping them in a much shorter cut is easier on the owner and the dog. It all boils down to personal preferences.
