A “chronic” red flag is usually caused by someone having sent you a message, and then unsending it. The red flag stays on your mailbox, for some reason, even though you don’t have new mail. This is often corrected for you by the server when its “daily trash collection” happens at 3 a.m. If its not corrected, you can force the flag away by holding down the OPTION key (on a Macintosh) or the CTRL key (on a Windows PC) and clicking on the flag.
