My instructors tell me not to “work on my PC formated” Zip disk on the Mac. Why not?
Only use a PC-formatted disk to “drag-copy” files onto it. Don’t save files to it from within an application. Past experience has shown a significant rate of data failures when PC-formatted disks are used to “save” files from within an application. PC-formatted disks should only be used if the user plans to transfer files to a PC Windows platform computer. If the user doesn’t plan to transfer to a PC, he/she should make sure the disk is formatted for Macintosh. (See “Save” files to the hard drive, not to the Zip disk or “Flash” drive. ” in the TIPS page in this website for more information.
