My husband would like to become a commercial pilot but hes 32 and has had no flight experience.?
As most others have said, it is possible but without the financial resources it will be such a slow process that by the time he earns all the required licenses and builds some work experience as a pilot, he may very well be too old for an airline job, at least with a major carrier. Although a few pilots make it into major airline careers after age 40, the vast majority hired are in their thirties or late twenties. As a general rule, the airlines look for people with at least 5 years of working experience as a pilot behind them. No one gets hired to fly for a major carrier straight out of flight school. If he already had the qualifications he is currently of the most ideal age in terms of maturity and number of healthy working years ahead of him. However, once you pass a certain age airlines become hesitant to invest a large amount of money on someone if they do not already have a significant amount of experience behind them, such as an ex-military pilot who has just retired after 15-20
