My FTP client displays “550: File exists” when I attempt to delete a directory on my web site. Am I doing something wrong?
Many clients will not allow you to delete non-empty directories. If you use a client that behaves this way, you must navigate into the directory, delete the files, and then delete the directory. Some FTP and web site management clients provide additional functionality to assist in the deletion of non-empty directories. These clients recursively delete files and subdirectories below the directory you selected and then delete the directory as the final step in the process. If you’re unsure if your client supports this functionality, check the configuration options and documentation for an ‘allow delete of non-empty folders’ setting.
