According to the guidelines established by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, food in an upright or chest freezer should remain frozen for 24 hours during a power failure. This guideline doesn’t apply to food thawed in a refrigerator freezer. If you are unsure, please err on the side of safety, throwing out partially thawed food to avoid food illness.
