Your first option is to collect water and allow the silt in the water to settle out prior to pumping. Second is to use the MSR Silt Stopper in conjunction with the pump. This will help trap all those filter clogging silt particles before they hit the biological microfilter. This will reduce flow rates, but help prolong the life of your cartridge in these challenging environments.
