My filesystem is ok – but xfs_check or xfs_repair shows errors/won run – whats wrong here?
You can not run xfs_repair on a mounted filesystem although support is available in CVS (08-02-2002) that let’s you run xfs_repair with the -n switch on a read-only mounted filesystem. You must not try to repair a mounted fs since this will result in dataloss and corruption when attempted. If you have to repair you’re filesystem it needs to be unmounted first. If this is the root (/) filesystem this will mean you have to boot from a bootable CD and perform the repair on the unmounted filesystem. There is a link to various bootable floppy/cd projects mentioned in the FAQ here.
