Alternating training is a great idea. Some parrots can become too attached to one member of the family, so everyone in the family should have some contact with Birdie on a regular basis. Even if you are the main trainer, your fiancee should spend some time reinforcing some tricks that Birdie has already learned. Also, this will be of great help later. The more consistent you both are about what behaviors are okay and how “punishment” will be handled, the better chances you will have a well-behaved and un-confused bird. Once the bird becomes tame, you may also want to encourage him to sit with guests for short periods of time. This way Birdie gets used to different people and won’t be as easily stressed when change occurs (for example if you have a neighbor take care of him while you are on vacation, etc.).
