Each family member (known in immigration terms as ‘dependants’) will need to apply for a visa to come to the UK as a PBS Dependant, before travelling to the UK. You are advised to all apply at the same time even if you are planning to travel separately to the UK. This is because, although the process of applying all together is quite straightforward, it is more complicated and more expensive if your family apply after you have been issued with your Tier 4 (general/adult) student visa. Each family member will have to apply using VAF10 – PBS Dependant: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/vafs/ Ensure you read the PBS Guidance Notes before completing the VAF 10 form. Each family member will be granted a visa for the same length of time as you.
