My eye doctor wants me to take 18 mg of Lutein everyday. What is it?
Lutein (loo-teen) is a carotenoid that must be obtained food such as cooked spinach, some fruits, corn, & egg yolks or certain vitamin supplements. Research shows that because of its antioxidant properties, consuming at least 6 mg per day may play a role in maintaining the health of eyes, particularly the macula of the eye (a small spot located in the retina, responsible for central vision).
