For some reason the trucks equipped with this two-in-one tank are notorious for having the upper outboard mounting tab break leaving the reservoir(s) to rattle around under the hood. The cap seals are so-so at best. The combination of these two shortcomings leads to a lot of complaints about leaks. The author uses a rubber band around the sealing surface of the coolant tank cap to help prevent leaks. How you go about rectifying the problem is really up to you since there is no tried and true method. There is no right or wrong method. It really depends upon how much time, money and effort you want to put into it. Now if the expansion tank actually BOILS over, you are dealing with a cooling system problem.
