My dog had a simliar condition and eventually all of her movement came back. Your dog could have had a stroke or a back injury. It is sometimes difficult to tell the difference without more tests. How old is your dog? If your dog is younger, I would guess it is a back condition. When dogs have strokes, they shed clots that can deposit in the back legs and cause the symptoms you described. The only way to be sure is to have a dopler done of the hind legs. Sometimes these clots will disolve on their own and the dog regains mobility. Also dogs can get herniated disks, other back injuries, and can develop a degenrative back diease that also result in what you have described. Sometimes several days of rest along with pain and anit-inflammatory meds from your vet will result in the animal regaining its movement. Back surgery can also be performed.
