My doctor told me that he wants to start me on enteral feedings. What are enteral feedings?
Enteral, or tube feedings, are started on a patient when the caloric intake that they receive from their regular food is not enough to sustain them. Enteral feedings are also for patients who do not have the ability to swallow food on their own. Your doctor will determine the amount of feedings you will receive.
