My daughter had a wonderful experience in the Willett Chorus for the past two years. What are the plans for continuing chorus this year?
A. Chorus is open to Willett students in grades 3-6 and meets once a week before school. Sonia Rakowski is no longer with us, but we welcome our new Chorus Director, UC Davis intern Sara Marostika. Details are still being worked out, but chorus should begin sometime in October. Keep an eye on Who’s News for details and a permission form. Q. Please clarify the school’s policy on the Pledge of Allegiance. A. The school’s policy is the same as the District’s. The Pledge of Allegiance is considered a patriotic observance and teachers are permitted to include it in their daily routine, although not all do. Your teacher may have discussed this at Back to School Night, but if not, feel free to contact them about their practice. Students need only participate if they are comfortable doing so. If you prefer that your child not participate, discuss with them the need to remain respectfully quiet during the Pledge.
