It could be serious, but the two things that immediately come to mind are minor. My first instinct when I hear a humming from my tower is that my fan motor is out of whack again. It’s a personality quirk of my system; the HD cooler I put in uses cheap fans with non-ball-bearing motors.Check the fans. Second is one of my drives shaking. Are all of the mounting screws tight? If it is actually an electrical sound, a certified “60-cycle hum”, it’s probably safest and easiest to just replace the power supply. That’s the only component that carries 60Hz AC.
