My computer is really slow.. is their any programs that will speed it up abit?
Netbooks are low powered to start with but you should still be able to speed it up: 1. Check how much memory (RAM) you have. Especially important if you have Windows 7 on it and only 1GB of RAM which will make it extremely slow – add another 1 or 2GB stick of RAM if possible and it will be far more responsive. 2. Use Msconfig to disable all unnecessary programs currently starting up. 3. Check if the netbook is overheating. If not, change the Windows power scheme from Balanced to Performance (if it is not already). 4. Check you aren’t overloaded with security e.g. more than 1 antivirus package installed 5. Clean up temporary files (e.g. with Ccleaner) but don’t try to ‘clean’ the registry – it really isn’t worth it and can cause more problems than it supposedly fixes. 6. If you know how and you have a Windows disc, you could also consider backing up your docs and reinstalling Windows.
You just explained it. You’d have to get better hardware to speed it up. Netbook’s themselves are REALLY REALLY slow, and the hardware is equivalent to a desktop from 2003. There is absolutely nothing you can do about the speed unless you get a better laptop. (Not a netbook) These programs that “Speed up” your computer dont do anything but take out processes and exit programs that make it seem like when you first bought it, taking out all the junk that you leave running on the computer 24/7. Edit** I agree with Jaymo. Complete waste of money to buy a netbook. You could’ve bought a notebook for the same price that was at least 1.5x better.
