My computer does not recognize the SuperStation External Drive tape drive. What should I do to correct this problem?
Does the drive move the tape when a tape cartridge is inserted? If not, check the power switch and the power connections to the tape drive. Power off the SuperStation and shut down the computer system (power-off state). Power on the SuperStation, then start the computer. b) Check that SuperStation is correctly connected to the computer using the parallel cable that shipped with the tape drive. c) Check the total length of the SuperStation parallel interface cable and the printer cable. The total length of the cables should not exceed 10 feet (3 meters). d) Check the system BIOS setting. Sony strongly recommends that you use this tape drive with a computer whose parallel port supports the EPP (Enhanced Parallel Port) mode or the ECP (Extended Capability Port) mode. e) Check the parallel port’s IRQ setting. The parallel port may be using the same setting as some other device in the computer or may not be assigned an irq at all. Refer to the manuals that came with the computer or contact
