My clients are members of an ethnic minority. How can a mainstream instrument like the Vineland be relevant for them?
Because the Vineland standardization sample included 3,000 individuals selected to represent the U.S. census, national norms reflect the performance of all U.S. racial and ethnic groups, including Black, White, Hispanic, Native American, Alaskan Native, Asian, Pacific Islander, and other minorities. In addition, research demonstrates that no significant differences in Vineland standard scores exist across ethnic groups for any of the Vineland domains. You can rest assured that the Vineland is suitable for assessing the adaptive behavior of any individual, regardless of ethnicity!
