• District 15 follows Illinois School Code requirements that a child be five years of age by September 1 of his/her kindergarten year to enroll. Occasionally, children whose fifth birthdays fall after the cut-off date but before October 31 may be found eligible to register for kindergarten. District 15 has developed specific criteria and procedures to assess children for early entrance to kindergarten. Parents may request an evaluation for the following school year by contacting the principal of their child’s home school any time between March 1 and May 1. For detailed information about how to request an evaluation, see the flyer, Early Entrance to Kindergarten or First Grade. More information is available in the Student Services section.
