Enrolled in band are many of the brightest, most ambitious, and most successful students in the school. We have many top ten kids in each of the classes, and the highest concentration of National Honor Society students of any organization in the school. Over the last 7 years a band student has graduated as either valedictorian or salutatorian from Northwest High School. Better colleges look for participation and achievement in school activities beyond academics as a way to choose their best candidates. In addition, recent SAT scores indicate an average of 25 – 35 points higher for those students who participate in music education.
