My child seems very angry and oppositional. Is that related to Tourettes?
Your child may be angry because of living with a misunderstood condition involving movements, obsessions and compulsions, and may be teased a lot. But, in some cases, people may be referring to anger beyond that of being misunderstood and teased. Recent research shows that it is not usually related to Tourette syndrome. Angry, oppositional, “rage-like” behavior may be related to bipolar disorder, ADHD, developmental disorders, or to a combination of a number of other diagnoses, but it is not related specifically to Tourette Syndrome. It is important that you identify and address the other diagnoses that may be leading to these behaviors.
