My child is involved in the same club/organisation that I volunteer with. Do I need a blue card?

Parents do not need a blue card to volunteer with their children in a sporting club if they are participating in the same of similar activities to their child within that club/organisation environment. For example, if your volunteer work is restricted to volunteering with the Under 7’s soccer team and your child is a member of that team, you do not need a blue card. However, if you volunteer in a club/organisation and your volunteer work includes activities that are different from those in which your child participates, then you need a blue card. For example, if you are the Manager of a soccer club and your child is a member of the Under 7’s, you need a blue card. Note Parents should speak to the volunteer coordinator of the organisation they intend to volunteer for about the nature of any child-related activities they will be involved in as a volunteer. The volunteer coordinator should then be able to determine if the parent needs a blue card. For more information , see the Commission
