There are a number of resources available to help you and your child make a smooth transition from EI to preschool special education programs and services. Meetings will be held with you and plans will be developed specifically for your child to assist in this process. A transition plan must be developed for all children exiting the EI program. You child’s EI service coordinator, service provider, and the county Early Intervention Officials (EIO) will work with you to develop that plan. If your child is likely to be eligible for preschool special education services, the EIO will arrange for a transition conference with you and others who will assist in this process. The purpose of the transition conference is to review your child’s program options and determine whether or not a referral should be made to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) of your local school district. This conference is a good time to ask questions and get additional information as it will focus speci
