My child attended private school and as a 7th grader did not have to take WASL, so I have nothing to compare skills to. Does it matter for the grade 10 WASL?

It depends on how he/she is doing. You can always have your child take the 10th grade released items to a) give them a sense of what’s tested, and b) identify areas of strength/weakness.
