My Chevelle didn have ground straps between the valve covers and the firewall. What is correct?

• A – Chevelles ordered from the factory without a radio (often, and incorrectly, referred to as ‘radio delete’) did not have grounding straps. In addition, certain condensers installed to quell electrical ‘noise’ were not installed; namely on the voltage regulator, the ignition coil, and inline with the blower motor. On Chevelles ordered with radios there is a ground strap between each valve cover and the firewall as well as one from the passenger side fender apron and the frame and three condensers mentioned above were installed. If any of the straps are missing, but another is present, it’s probably due to being left off by a mechanic servicing the valve train or valve covers at some point over the last 38+ years. The straps are available from various aftermarket suppliers of replacement components.
