My CD-R drive is supposed to support synchronous negotiation, but when I have synchronous negotiation enabled on the Adaptec card, it won work. Why not?

It is often necessary to “disable” this setting on the Adaptec board. This does not mean that the device won’t communicate synchronously. This setting only determines which device INITIATES the negotiation.
