My CD-R drive is supposed to support synchronous negotiation, but when I have synchronous negotiation enabled on the Adaptec card, it won t work. Why not?

It is often necessary to “disable” this setting on the Adaptec board. This does not mean that the device won t communicate synchronously. This setting only determines which device INITIATES the negotiation.
