My cat is stuck in a tree what do i do?

Contrary to what everyone believes (urban myth?), the fire department won’t rescue cats out of trees. And you really do have something to worry about — if he’s in a tree that has no branches until 40 feet up, he can’t get down (cats need branches to climb down). Call animal control or a humane society for their recommendations. If not, I’m afraid you’ll have to call a tree service, who will charge you to get the cat out. My cat did this as a kitten (chased up by a coyote, probably), and was in the tree for 4 days. I was frantic. We finally got a tree service to climb up and get him down. Cost us $75, but that was a long time ago, so it would probably be more now. And yes, if he gets weak enough he will fall out on his own. You don’t want that to happen. If he survives he’ll be injured and probably very ill from being up there so long. BTW, my cat is now almost 19 years old and hasn’t climbed a tree in a long time!
