My car is stuck in park, how do i diagnose the problem?

It is a 93 Lincoln Town Car. It just started doing this and after a while it will eventually shift from park, and when it does it shifts through the rest of the gears fine. Earlier today, someone helped me by pushing on the rear of the car and i got it out of park, so that might have helped. Right now i have it in neutral with the Ebrake on. I’ve always been parked on a level surface when it has happened. I don’t know if it could be a fuse or the brake light switch, either of which i don’t know how to tell if they are the culprit.
