You will need to take the vehicle and the title for the vehicle to a motor vehicle inspection station and obtain a Motor Vehicle Examination (form MVE-1) before going to the county treasurer’s motor vehicle office. Contact the county treasurer’s office or check the Kansas Highway Patrol at www.kansashighwaypatrol.org/troops/mve.h… concerning the location and hours of operation of the inspection station. Take the title, pink copy of the MVE-1 and proof of insurance with you to the county treasurer’s motor vehicle office to make application for a Kansas title and registration. Go down to the local driver’s license office and transfer your license first. You will need to have done this before you change your plates. Then just go to the tag agent with your title, current registration and insurance verification. They will be happy to take your money.
