My car is newer and in great condition but it has a major problem. (a bad motor or transmission, etc)?
The tax law also has an exception stating that if you donate a car that needs major repair, and the nonprofit makes that major repair prior to selling the car, the donor can take the fair market value deduction. VFC will make the major repair on a car of this type. The car will then be sold on our retail lot, Freedom Wheels, where 100% of the proceeds support the VFC program.
