Try and research her pedigree, Sometimes two black labs can produce a chocolate one, or as breeders like to call them ‘red’ and you could find she may have had a chocolate coloured Grandparent or Gt, Grandparent behind her and this is in her genes There is nothing to worry about. Some people prefer the chocolate labs to the black or yellow ones.

My old black lab (rip) when he was about 5 his hair turned reddish almost like he had some brindle in him. And he was a pure bred lab. They vet said that there was nothing wrong with him, and he lived to be 14. I would just take your dog to the vet just to be sure it nothing more than, age! GOOD LUCK!!
