My Big Boss knows my Supervisor is a Jerk, does no work, bunks office, surfs net whole day-?
1. Your supervisor probably represented himself (herself?) to be more qualified than he is. Big Boss may have been duped. 2. Employee turnover is EXPENSIVE. Big Boss may have hoped to salvage the situation. 3. Employers generally can’t just give someone the boot… not even in “at will employment” states. Reason being, an employee who feels they were unjustly fired can sue. And possibly win. So, smart employers will build a case against an employee that they are planning to fire, so that if it does go to court, the company can defend itself. Also, if the employee is fired, they may qualify for unemployment. If the employee quits, they won’t qualify. So, your Big Boss may also be hoping that the Supervisor will just quit.
