My baby is measuring small at 21weeks, what size clothes should i buy?
If your baby is measuring small you will be getting another scan believe me. I’m 38 weeks tomorrow and for the last month and a half-2 months mine was measuring small and I have had to go for about 4/5 scans the last 2 months to keep a check on his growth, he’s fine now though, so I wouldn’t worry about buying smaller clothes just yet because your baby will probably grow to normal size before (s)he is born. We bought a pack of 5lb sleep suits and received a pack of tiny baby baby grows as a gift so we have decided not to buy anything else smaller than 0-3 months because we are prepared for if he is small because we can put him in those and then go out and buy more if he is small/early. But if I were you I wouldn’t buy more than one pack of newborn/tiny baby sleep suits/baby grows before your baby is here.
Baby may be smal now but 19weeks is a long time to catch up! and have growth spurts, your best off waiting till a little later on as your uterus will be measured at each appointment now and from that they can give you an idea of the babys size. My baby is measuring normal dates and I have brought a selection of newborn as they do fit in them for longer sometimes at most about a month but if your buying unisex i would buy newborn as the colours flood in once you know the sex, if you find out the sex then I would do a little of both!
You’re only half way mate, don’t worry about it. My baby measured small too and she was born at nearly 7 pounds. Not huge, but that’s about average for me. She has really filled out and thrived in her first 6 months. Doctors say that sometimes, and don’t relise these things stick in mum’s mind. I bought several OOO jumpsuits (most comfortable thing for little newborns) and one or two OO. You won’t need a huge amount of clothes to begin with, just a few singlets, socks and the jumpsuits. They grow out of them so quickly. When you have given birth you’ll have a better idea of what you want. I bought a box of 100 Huggies newborn nappies and only used half. She needed the next size up very quickly. My baby, now 6 months old, is wearing the O’s and some size 1 clothes! She’s not particularly chubby, but very long.
Honestly, my daughter weighed 8-3 at birth and her newborn clothes were too big! The clothes may not last a long time, but the baby has to wear something those first couple of days. I’d buy one or two preemie outfits (the kind they have at Belk’s or Target). I got a couple at a consignment sale so I wouldn’t have to spend a lot but I know daughter #2 (with whom I am pregnant and due in August) won’t have to be swallowed whole by her NB sleepers. People will usually give you a bunch of newborn and 0-3 month size at showers and as gifts when they visit, so there’s not much point in buying a bunch of those until you see what you get from friends and relatives.
