My application requires a different version of Java than the one provided by CSM. Can both versions of Java coexist on the same machine?
Yes. In general, each version of Java is installed into a different directory, so different versions of Java will not conflict with each other. Also, many versions of Java have different RPM names than the version CSM provides (IBMJava2-JRE). In these cases, there is no coexistance problem. However, in some cases, the Linux distribution provides a version of java that has the same RPM name as the one provided with CSM (IBMJava2-JRE).
