Each agency is responsible for administering their BATS account. This includes customizing their report headers and determining whether to share information with other agencies. The USBDC recognizes that some agencies have existing case management systems. BATS is designed to “import” information from an agency’s internal system on a one-time only basis. This is a 2-step process that requires data first to be sent to ATF in the required BATS schema format; and upon validation by ATF will be uploaded into the contributing agency’s BATS account. This function is therefore ideal for entering historical incident information into BATS. New incidents can then be entered directly into an agency’s BATS account. **Agencies are encouraged to enter new incidents directly into their BATS account and use the built-in “export” function to transfer their information into their internal system.
