my 8 month old mix male dog named Indy is food aggressive towards dogs, what can I do?
Indy is not food aggressive towards people- I can take his food away and he is fine however if another dog were to come get some food from the same bowl or even near him, he goes to attack mode, no warnings (growl, snarl). He loves food a lot, he’s constantly eating something when I take him to the park. Other then food aggression he’s a pretty good dog. He’s timid around the house and doesn’t trust people completely except for my me, my mom, and the people that knew him when he was a pup. He exercises a lot and gets a lot of love. I’ve tried to be the pack leader by making him to tricks and waiting for him to give me eye contact before I give him food but I’m not sure that he knows that I’m pack leader. He doesn’t walk well on a leash (he walks ahead instead of by my side). I really need help with his food aggression. Please if you can help me guide myself to help Indy I would greatly appreciate some advice other then “Go see a professional dog trainer.” I cannot afford one.
