pediatricianUnless your pediatrician diagnosed the sore throat, do not assume your baby has a sore throat because of any symptoms you are seeing. Ask your doctor to examine your baby in case it is a serious condition which requires more serious medical attention.

There are plenty of reasons for a child to have a sore throat, but your baby’s discomfort is more likely to be caused by sores in his mouth than by a throat infection.

If your baby has lesions in his mouth from gingivostomatitis or hand, foot, and mouth disease, for example, they can keep him pretty miserable and make it difficult for him to swallow. So might thrush or teething — could a new tooth be making its way out?

If you want to keep your baby comfortable, simply make sure that your baby is warm, has plenty of fluids (especially breast milk), and gets rest.

First of all YOU KNOW your baby so YOU KNOW its throat is sore. As for help im sorry I can’t help you because the help I had I just found out was WAY BAD FOR BABYS, honey is bad…and I’m sorry for that. I truly didn’t know. And am relived to have learned. NOTE TO { atlas_ju… You didn’t have to be so nasty.} I mean really! I’m big enough to admit that the post I made about a baby was a mistake, I really didn’t know Honey could hurt a baby as opposed to grown ups. I’m glad I know now. And I do think you. For that…but you still came off as a *****! When you really didn’t have to. I hope you do not go day to day with ALL that hate in you because if you do you probably DESERIVE IT!

Awww the poor little thing. I’m wondering though, how do you know she has a sore throat? ***NOTE*** Whatever you do, DO NOT give the baby any honey. THe person who wrote that is an idiot! Babies can get very sick from honey. It is a VERY common allergen in babies and can often carry small amounts of botchelism that may not be harmful to an adult but can be deadly to a newborn!

It took me over a month to figure out that my 1 year old at the times throat was sore…. The Dr actually was the one, I thought her mouth was sore from teething…anyways, if the Dr told you, he would have given you an antibiotic for her, most likely. Other than that, and panadol (I’m assuming its like a baby tylenol?) there’s nothing but lots of feedings and cuddling.

Did she tell you that her throat hurts? WHY on earth would you assume that a newborn has a sore throat??? At 7 weeks old, she SHOULD be up to feed several times a night; you will get some sleep when she is older, like a year from now. STOP giving your infant medication and man up to the fact that this is what babies DO!
