My 5 month old is sucking his thumb?

try a different pacifier one that is shaped and feels like a bottle nipple…I do understand your concern because I do daycare and a new family that enrolled in my daycare has a four year old that shows no sign of stopping sucking her thumb…I would try different “tubbies” and see if he will take one of them….You should also consult a doctor because he can help find a safe alternative….You may want to put a pacifier in his mouth when he is hungry while you are making his bottle…I found that babies are more likely to take it when they are hungry and then will become use to using it if you keep it up…but make sure it feels just like a bottle nipple…

Every time you see his thumb in his mouth, gently remove it. That is the only advise I can give. Don’t let him get into the habit of having it in there. They do not always grow out of it.

i’ve seen some stuff in walgreens that you paint on their nails and it’s supposed to work for nail bitting or thumb sucking. i think it tastes bad so they keep their fingers out of their mouth.
