My 31-year-old Son has been told that the only effective treatment for a 7cm diameter bald patch at his crown is hair- transplant surgery. What advice can you give?
This sounds like Male Pattern (Androgenic) Alopecia. It is a worrying condition for a young man. Hair grafting by a competent surgeon using the micro-grafting technique can be an option. Be aware that additional surgery may be needed as further natural hair is lost. Select your surgeon carefully. These web pages list reputable specialist surgeons who may be consulted. If you prefer, an independent opinion can be sought from a registered trichologist who will be able to recommend a surgeon. See HAIR CONSULTANTS.
