: Has anyone been successful in setting up a Microsoft Windows VPN server behind a WRT54G router using the latest firmware (1.42.2). I have been successful in building the 1.42.2 firmware and re-enabled the ping bug so that I could telnet to the WRT54G. I have been playing with “iptables” on the WRT54G to try to get the GRE protocol 47 to pass from the Internet to the LAN side. I keep getting ICMP messages: “Destination Unreachable” and “Protocol Unreachable” for PPP LCP packet which contain the GRE protocol (47). TCP PPTP packets (port=1723) pass with no problem when TCP port forwarding is enable for this TCP port type. I’m stumped and any Suggestions or help would be appreciated… Suggestion: add a rule to drop incoming GRE packets, but make sure the rule is after the one which accepts ESTABLISHED packets. This means that any incoming GRE which arrives before a corresponding outgoing GRE will be dropped before it triggers the ICMP response. IOW, the problem is a race condition betwe
