Mr Hample, what services and benefits will the new hospital provide that are not being provided at the existing facility?
I think the one new feature that we have talked about more than the others is the concept of a “clinic-track” for seeing walk-in patients. We have talked about wait-times in the Emergency Room and explained that much of this is due to the fact that our ER sees not only emergency patients, but also those patients that have chosen to use our ER as their “doctors office”. The ER wasn’t set up to handle that last group of patients. There wasn’t much of a demand for routine care in the ER in 1979 when this hospital was built. The number of uninsured was much less then than it is today and traditionally patients needing routine medical care would have first received that care at their physician’s office. The new hospital would have a separate area off the ER to handle the clinic type patient. In this way, we should be able to reduce the wait time for the walk-in patient.
