Mr NATHAN REES: It is at Rouse Hill. The Government is investing $55 million in more than 71 local stormwater harvesting and recycling projects. The SPEAKER: Order! If the member for Coffs Harbour has a question he can seek the call. Mr NATHAN REES: This Government is also investing $100 million a year in upgrading and maintaining our pipelines. The people of Sydney deserve our congratulations on their efforts in saving water. Sydney now uses the same amount of water as it did in 1974 despite a population increase of more than one million in the area. No issue was the subject of more discussion during the run-up to the March election than water policy. In February, our water supplies had hit 32.4 per cent and not long after the Government made the decision to proceed with the desalination plant and build the only source of water that is not rainfall dependent. Just last week we delivered on our commitment that the plant would be 100 per cent powered by green energy by issuing a request
