Moving Public Folders / Defrag Pf Database. What Is The Best Way?

0

Hello, I have a question about Public Folders and what I can do to improve performance. A little back ground. My company has grown very fast in the past 2 years. I begged for email archiving when I started but finally got it less than 6 months ago. My stores were out of control but are much better. I am just moving Mailbox=92s to defrag white space. I now need to move/defrag Public folders =96 I have a disk bottleneck. My PF DB is 165 GB with 46 GB of white space. I=92ve also considered adding a dedicated PF server but I=92m not sure how much this will help if the disk subsystem is the bottleneck. I think my main priority is to defrag and wondering what is the best way? 1. Move the PF DB to a new volume? Will this auto-defrag as the way MB moves do? 2. Offline Defrag? 3. After I do defrag will a dedicated PF server help? My Exchange server seems to be performing fine. Disk I/O is the culprit. I read MS does not recommend moving PF DB=92s. I have 1 Exchange server. Thanks for any info.
