Movie stirs debate: should a married woman accept an Indecent Proposal?
Indecent Proposal, the hit movie that has caused national debate over whether or not a dollar sign can be put on sacred marriage vows, stars Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson and Robert Redford. Moore and Harrelson portray Diana and David Murphy, a young married couple with a hearty love life but financial difficulty. Redford is John Gage, the lonely billionaire, who can put them on Easy Street if they agree to his proposition: $1 million for one night with Mrs. Murphy. While she has not seen the movie, sultry actress-broadcaster Jayne Kennedy Overton, who is married and the mother of two daughters, told Jet she thought the whole idea was preposterous. Speaking from her Los Angeles home, she said, “I don’t think God would like that. I think marriage is sacred, just as life is.
